Full Description
Full Description
Following the centuries-old tradition of Japanese sword making, this kamisori is hand forged from two distinct layers — a high carbon steel cutting edge and a soft iron body.
The hard steel delivers a remarkably fine edge, while the iron provides the flexibility needed for a controlled, precise shave.
This blade is intentionally non-stainless. Stainless alloys sacrifice hardness for corrosion resistance, but the high carbon steel used here achieves a superior level of sharpness that holds its edge far longer between honings. This is the same principle that has guided Japanese bladesmiths for centuries — performance over convenience.
To preserve your kamisori, simply wipe the blade dry after each use and apply a thin layer of protective oil. With proper care, this razor will serve you for a lifetime.
The handle is wrapped in Japanese rattan using a traditional binding technique, offering a secure and comfortable grip. The blade rests in an upcycled vintage Japanese silk kimono cloth, inside a handcrafted paulownia wood box — a naturally moisture-regulating wood used for centuries in Japan to protect precious objects. The original maker's box with handwritten calligraphy is also included, a rare piece of provenance that connects this razor directly to its maker.
Every kamisori we offer is fully disinfected, honed and shave ready.
In Japan, kamisori are used not only for men's beard grooming but also for delicate facial hair removal for women — a testament to the refined sharpness of these blades
