Shapton Glass Stone 16000 - The finest grit in our selection of Shapton stones. This hard stone is used to polish the razor, bringing the edge to a level that is nearly shave-ready after honing on this very fine grit. Beyond this stage, only diamond paste and stropping remain — the achieved sharpness is ready for shaving.

Description complète

During our selection process, we tested countless artificial and natural stones, ultimately choosing only the most effective options available. After honing hundreds of Japanese razors, we can confidently say that the consistent grit structure and reliability of artificial Shapton stones consistently deliver fast and satisfying results. The added stability and support of the glass backing mean that sharpening your razors on these stones is all that is required. In addition, the glass layer ensures that the stone will not flex when pressure is applied.

Simply splash some water onto the stone and begin sharpening — there is no need to create a slurry.

For sharpening Kamisori razors, we recommend acquiring the complete set: 4000, 8000, and 16000 grit, along with the Glass Diamond Lapping Plate.

If you already own a sharp razor from us, you can begin with the finest stone, the 16000 grit, to maintain the edge. If more significant irregularities are present, it is worth moving to a lower grit, such as 4000 or 8000.

You will receive one stone per order.

Guide d'entretien

To maintain the performance and longevity of your GlassStone sharpening stones, follow these care instructions:
1.Keep the Stones Flat:
Regular lapping is essential to keep the sharpening surface flat for consistent results. Use the Diamond on Glass Lapping Plate (DGLP), available in our shop, to resurface your stones as needed.

2. Use Water Only:
These stones are designed to work with water. Before use, sprinkle a small amount of water on the surface; there’s no need to soak them. Avoid using oil or other lubricants.

3. Clean After Use:
After sharpening, rinse the stone thoroughly with water to remove metal particles and residue. Use a soft brush if necessary to clean the surface gently, do not use soap or other detergents, only water.

4. Dry Properly:
Allow the stones to air dry completely before storing. Avoid exposing them to extreme heat or direct sunlight, as this can cause cracking.

5. Store Safely:
Store the stones in a dry, cool place. Use a protective case or box to prevent damage and keep the stones free from dust.

6. clean the stones before each use, make sure that no sand, dust or anything else is on the surface, rinse them before use. All dirt may result in scratches on the blades and the wrong sharpening results

By following these steps, your sharpening stones will remain effective, ensuring sharp and precise edges on your tools for years to come. Remember to check out our Diamond on Glass Lapping Plate to keep your stones flat and in top condition!
