Kamisori Stand - Cherry Wood - Urushi Lacquered

This cherry wood stand is protected by multiple layers of genuine Japanese urushi lacquer. Urushi is the sap or resin of the lacquer tree that polymerizes under hot and humid conditions. This property ensures that the stand will remain unchanged and unaffected by moisture, even in humid environments such as bathrooms. Traditionally, even bowls for food or plates are lacquered with this natural resin.
To enhance the stand’s stability, an artificial felt piece has been applied to the bottom (vegan-friendly).

The wood is crafted from German Cherry trees that have been dried for several years. It is then cut and sanded with the assistance of a local woodturner. Subsequently, layers of Urushi lacquer are applied, with each layer curing for approximately 24 hours before being sanded down. This meticulous process, which spans several days, culminates in a lustrous and durable object that is resistant to water and other environmental factors.
