Our selection process involved testing countless artificial and natural stones, only choosing the most effective options on the market. After honing hundreds of Japanese razors, we can confidently say that the consistent grit size and reliability of artificial Shapton stones always provides quick and satisfying results. With the added stability and support of the glass layer on the back, honing your razors on these stones is all that is needed - In addition the glass layer ensures that you wont bend the stone while applying pressure.
Simply splash some water on the stone and start sharpening - no need to build a slurry.
For sharpening Kamisoris we recommend getting the whole set. 4000, 8000 and 16000 as well as the Glas Diamond Lapping Plate.
If you already have a sharp razor from us, you can start with the finest stone the 16000 grit to maintain the blade. If Bigger irregularities are encountered it is worth. going to a lower grit. i.e. 4000 or 8000.

1.Keep the Stones Flat:
Regular lapping is essential to keep the sharpening surface flat for consistent results. Use the Diamond on Glass Lapping Plate (DGLP), available in our shop, to resurface your stones as needed.
2. Use Water Only:
These stones are designed to work with water. Before use, sprinkle a small amount of water on the surface; there’s no need to soak them. Avoid using oil or other lubricants.
3. Clean After Use:
After sharpening, rinse the stone thoroughly with water to remove metal particles and residue. Use a soft brush if necessary to clean the surface gently, do not use soap or other detergents, only water.
4. Dry Properly:
Allow the stones to air dry completely before storing. Avoid exposing them to extreme heat or direct sunlight, as this can cause cracking.
5. Store Safely:
Store the stones in a dry, cool place. Use a protective case or box to prevent damage and keep the stones free from dust.
6. clean the stones before each use, make sure that no sand, dust or anything else is on the surface, rinse them before use. All dirt may result in scratches on the blades and the wrong sharpening results
