Henkotsu へんこつ

Henkotsu へんこつ is a brand name. The word means a stubborn, obstinate person. On the blades the こ is written in an old form that looks like ホ.

The blades carry the motto イヤデモ切レル, cuts even if you don't want it to, and on some pieces the old sumo title 日下開山. The boxes carry the label へんこつ印御剃刀 with the seal へんこつ本店印 and the claim 最高級本家. This label wording is found word for word in Japanese auction records.

Maker, place and period behind the brand are not documented in any source we have found.
