Sakuragi Western Style Vintage Japanese Razor by Meikou Hozonkai - with Hinoki wood box

beautiful western style Japanese razor by Sakuragi, made by the Meikou Honzonkai, Association for preservation of great Craftsmanship. Most likely some time in the 60s-70s.

the Hilt Is made of bakelite or an equal early artificial material.

the cutting edge is 75 mm long and the head 19 mm wide. Overall length is 253 mm and the weight 49.4 gramms.

The blade is resharpened and stropped by us to cut like the day it as produced. The razor is in very good shape. We do not high gloss polish the blades during restoration as this will destroy the vintage look of this old masterpiece entirely.

The razor comes wrapped in white linnen in a handmade Hinoki wood box.

The box is handcrafted by us out of imported Japanese Hinoki Wood. A wood that is used for centuries for temples and shrines in Japan.
Engraved on the lid is an Ukiyo-e woodblock print of Kitagawa Utamaro's "the precocious girl".
